Next NCA meeting:
March 10, 2012 at the Hampton in in Carson City
At the last meeting:
- Swore in new officers reflected in the officer list below.
- President Columbus talked about the last legislative session. To summarize "We got our clocks cleaned..." Shift differential is a done deal, the only question is how, NAC change or schedule change (a Personnel Commission meeting and then on to Legislative Commission will decide exactly how it is done.)
- Rural area differential (RAD) no longer exists for new employees. Established employees who transfer from an institution without RAD to one with are entitled to it. Apparently some administrators are trying to deny this.

President's meeting with the Director:
- Discussed Associate Warden positions and the blurring of lines between custody and programs at that level. The Director's position is that this blurring is necessary for the future development of leaders in the department five and more years down the road. Also discussed was the possible implementation of a restructuring of command and institutions. The restructuring would place Associate Wardens in charge of every aspect of a specific part of a facility including everything from maintenance to security and programs. The idea is that giving an associate warden the power to make all the decisions in his/her area of responsibility will make for smoother operations.
- Discussed implementation of supervisory class. The idea here is that new supervisory personnel will be required to take a class on how to mannage people and what is expected of them.
